Managing connectivity across a property portfolio requires an understanding of each building, its existing infrastructure and the people who use it.
During September, Fuse Telecom began work on a portfolio of 40 sites in Belgravia, carrying out surveys to inform the delivery of connectivity and managed infrastructure.
The requirement
The planned infrastructure will support lift communications, CCTV, door entry systems, telephone services, reception desk broadband and tenant connectivity.
With these services supporting different aspects of each building’s operations, the project requires a coordinated approach that accounts for each system’s connectivity requirements.
Our approach
Our engineer Mick carried out surveys across the portfolio, assessing the buildings and identifying the cabling requirements to support the planned services.
The proposed infrastructure includes 10Gbps bearers, providing capacity for connectivity services to develop as demand grows. Alongside the connections, Fuse Telecom’s role as a managed service provider for one of the UK’s biggest landlord, brings the supporting infrastructure and its ongoing management into the same programme.
By the end of September, two sites were in development with Openreach, progressing the portfolio from survey and planning towards delivery.
The progress
September established the groundwork for the wider rollout, with building surveys informing the infrastructure plans and the first two sites moving into development.
The project reflects Fuse Telecom’s approach to connected buildings: understanding the property first, then planning the connectivity, cabling and management around its requirements.
