July Round-Up: Connected Buildings, Upgrades & Growing Clients

July has been another incredibly busy month for the team, with projects delivered across the UK, new buildings going live and more organisations preparing for the UK's PSTN Switch Off.

Here's what we've been up to...

🏢 Supporting growing retail & charity organisations

We've continued working alongside several of our long-standing retail and charity customers as they expand their estates, providing everything from full fibre broadband to dedicated leased lines to ensure every new location is connected from day one.

Reliable connectivity shouldn't be something businesses have to think about when opening a new site - it should already be there.

🚉 Improving connectivity at a major train station

This month also saw us on-site at a train station where we're upgrading the existing leased line infrastructure to support both CCTV and public guest Wi-Fi.

The project not only strengthens the connectivity required for critical security systems but also enhances the visitor experience by delivering reliable Wi-Fi throughout designated operating hours.

☎️ Helping businesses prepare for the PSTN Switch Off

With the January 2027 deadline fast approaching, we've continued supporting organisations as they transition away from legacy BT services.

This month, one of the UK's largest landlords entrusted Fuse Telecom with the management of over 150 legacy BT lines across its property portfolio.

Rather than simply replacing every line, we're taking a consultative approach by:

  • Identifying the purpose of every existing line.
  • Upgrading services where they're still required, whether that's digital voice, SOGEA, fibre or dedicated leased line connectivity.
  • Migrating legacy lift lines to modern solutions.
  • Reviewing existing handsets to ensure they're compatible with digital services.
  • Cancelling any redundant lines, helping reduce unnecessary ongoing costs.

For us, the PSTN Switch Off isn't just about replacing ageing technology - it's an opportunity to help organisations simplify their connectivity, remove legacy services they no longer need and future-proof their estates with the right solution for every site.

The Great Switch Off

🏗️ Five Connected Buildings officially went live

July marked a huge milestone as Northumberland House, Baltic Works and Gosforth Central all reached key stages in their connectivity transformation.

At Northumberland House, tenants can now move into offices with enterprise-grade leased line connectivity already in place, replacing ageing ADSL services and dramatically reducing the time it takes to get online.

Meanwhile, Baltic Works has undergone an incredible transformation, with our managed connectivity supporting everything from the building's operational infrastructure to guest Wi-Fi throughout communal areas, breakout spaces and even the on-site gym - meaning tenants can enjoy a seamless connected experience wherever they are in the building.

We've also completed a major infrastructure upgrade at Gosforth Central. Following the centre's recent rebrand into a vibrant destination for independent retailers, local businesses and the wider community, we've upgraded the existing managed connectivity we've supported for several years onto a dedicated leased line. The enhanced infrastructure now delivers faster, more resilient connectivity for guest Wi-Fi, building management systems and the retailers operating throughout the centre, helping ensure visitors and businesses benefit from a reliable digital experience.

These projects are another reminder that modern buildings rely on more than great design and parking - they rely on the right connectivity to keep everything running seamlessly.

🏙️ A landmark London project completed

We're proud to have delivered a new leased line into one of London's most recognisable public spaces following its recent transformation.

The connectivity now supports the vendors operating within the destination while also providing the resilient infrastructure required for the site's CCTV systems.

🤝 10 new businesses connected on Day One

Across our Connected Buildings portfolio, we've welcomed 10 new businesses who moved into their premises already connected to Fuse Telecom's managed infrastructure.

No waiting weeks for installations.
No temporary solutions.
Simply move in and get to work.

Just as importantly, our team has been on-site to welcome many of these new occupiers in person, ensuring every installation and move-in runs as smoothly as possible. From the initial handover through to answering questions on-site, we're there to make sure businesses can hit the ground running from day one.

Here's some of the team out on site this month, helping make those seamless move-ins happen:

📑 More infrastructure secured for the future

This month we've:

  • Signed 3 new wayleave agreements.
  • Introduced new connectivity products to enhance performance and speeds for our customers.
  • Completed 15 site visits for buildings looking to modernise their connectivity and building infrastructure.

As more landlords and property owners recognise the value of managed connectivity, we're excited to continue helping transform buildings across the UK.

Here's to another busy month ahead!

Leased Line Internet for Office Buildings: How Northumberland House Upgraded from ADSL to Business Fibre

From Legacy ADSL to a Future-Proof Connected Building

Businesses moving into office space often discover that slow broadband delays their opening date. At Northumberland House in Newcastle city centre, only ADSL services were available, making a dedicated leased line the only realistic option for modern businesses requiring reliable, high-speed internet connectivity.

When the landlord of Northumberland House, Newcastle recognised that the building was only served by an ageing ADSL connection offering limited speeds, they understood that upgrading the building's infrastructure would not only improve the experience for existing occupiers but also make the property significantly more attractive to prospective tenants.

That's where Fuse Telecom came in.

The Challenge

Although Northumberland House is located in the heart of Newcastle city centre, the only connectivity readily available within the building area was legacy ADSL. To meet the demands of modern businesses, a dedicated leased line was essential, providing the speed, reliability and resilience today's organisations expect.

The landlord wanted to:

  • Improve the experience for existing tenants.
  • Future-proof the building's connectivity.
  • Attract new businesses looking for enterprise-grade internet.
  • Deliver connectivity from the moment a tenant moved into their new office.

Rather than waiting until each new occupier ordered their own connection, the decision was made to invest in the building's infrastructure.

Our Solution

Fuse Telecom worked closely with the landlord to design and deliver a fully connected building solution.

The project included:

  • Installation of a dedicated leased line into Northumberland House.
  • Cabling infrastructure throughout the building to every floor and office suite.
  • Managed connectivity backed by our UK-based support team.
  • Hosted Voice services for businesses within the building.
  • Competitive pricing for tenants, making enterprise-grade connectivity accessible to businesses of all sizes.

One of the biggest priorities was ensuring no tenant experienced downtime during the project.

While the dedicated fibre service was being installed, we supplied temporary 5G business connectivity to affected tenants, allowing them to continue operating without interruption until the leased line went live.

As a result, businesses remained connected throughout the entire project.

What Our Customer Said

One of the tenants benefiting from the new infrastructure is C4 Sight Care.

After moving onto the building's dedicated leased line, they shared their experience:

"Fuse Telecom made the entire process seamless, delivering our leased line ahead of schedule with excellent communication throughout – the improvement in our speed and reliability has made a real difference to our business and it's been a pleasure working with your team."

A Successful Partnership

This project was a fantastic collaboration between Fuse Telecom and the landlord.

By investing in modern digital infrastructure, Northumberland House has transformed from a building limited by outdated ADSL connectivity into a future-ready commercial workspace offering fast, reliable business connectivity from day one.

The project was delivered ahead of schedule, businesses remained connected throughout thanks to temporary 5G services, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from tenants highlights the value that high-quality connectivity brings to commercial property.

As more landlords recognise connectivity as a key factor in attracting and retaining tenants, projects like Northumberland House demonstrate how investing in digital infrastructure benefits everyone—from property owners to the businesses that call the building home.
